Just another Lego Blog

Certainly one of the nicer builds was last years vignette 40237 Easter Egg Hunt.
Last years The Lego Ninjago Movie has brought us a lot of great sets. One of the reasons for The Lego Ninjago Movie themes popularity is probably its large mechs.
Three mechs have also been rendered at a much smaller scale as polybags so far. 30379 Quake Mech is one of these polybags with a miniature rendition of Coles mech.
The gift with purchase program is one of the reasons why I like to shop at shop.lego.com. These gifts vary from exclusive minifigures to proper sets like the recent 40290 60 Years of the LEGO Brick.
I usually keep a couple of items on my wishlist, so I can purchase them later, when an interesting promotion comes along.
In May of 2017 Lego gave away 40268 R3-M2. While this particular promotion wasn’t the reason for my purchase I still ended up with my own little astromech droid. Continue reading “Lego 40268 – R3-M2”
Lego has dedicated a Juniors and Duplo line to last years Cars 3 movie. While both themes are not exactly the first choice for AFOLs, I still thought that the small Junior sets looked like a lot of fun.
When the movie was released, I decided that it was time for my daughters first cinema visit. We properly enjoyed ourselves (Popcorn and all) and right after the movie bought 10730 Lightning McQueen Speed Launcher.
Soon after 10731 Cruz Ramirez Race Simulator and 10732 Guido and Luigi’s Pit Stop followed. Much to my daughters delight I finally completed her collection with 10733 Mater’s Junkyard this week. A perfect opportunity then to take a look at the whole range of our Cars 3 sets.
Last year Lego released The Lego Batman Movie and with it came a couple of excellent sets. I like how Lego portraits the dark knight with a lot of irony and the suitable outrageous The Lego Batman Movie designs.
Leading up to the start of the movie Lego released a couple of nice polybags. 30522 Batman in the Phantom Zone is centered around Batmans journey to the Phantom Zone.
Lego has received a lot of criticism for their 2017 Technic lineup. The 2016 Technic range was full of exciting sets and many felt that Lego missed an opportunity to show an even stronger lineup for its 40th Technic anniversary.
While the large sets haven’t caught my interest, I purchased the majority of the small and medium ones. It somehow feels like most of those sets have been designed for play rather than building complex and realistic models.
42060 Roadwork Crew is a perfect example of such a small set that looks like a lot of fun to play with.
Lego has a long history of cars in all sizes. Through the years they introduced several themes dedicated to cars resulting in the current Speed Champions lineup.
I’m a big fan of vehicles in general and sports cars in particular. So its no wonder, that I own most of the Speed Champions sets produced to date. My personal preferences aside, I still think Lego is doing a lot of things right with the Speed Champions range. Most sets are small, reasonably priced (given license fees) and will appeal to children and adults alike.
Lets have a look at 75880 McLaren 720S, one of last years sets, which comes with a minifigure and a designers desk.
When Lego introduced BrickHeadz at the 2016 San Diego ComicCon they instantly appealed to me. So I was pleasantly surprised when Lego announced, that those figures would be part of their regular lineup.
The first series of BrickHeadz featured figures from DC Comic Superheroes, Marvel Super Heroes and Disney. While I appreciate the super heroes lineup (41588 The Joker is simply fantastic) there was one theme missing that is very popular with Lego fans: Star Wars!
